Telco Telstra Corp. Ltd. is the latest Australian company to halt advertising on Google Inc.'s video platform YouTube Inc., The Australian reported March 29.
Vodafone Australia was recently reported to have pulled its ads from the Alphabet Inc. subsidiary following concerns that they may be placed alongside hateful, racist and other offensive videos.
That followed the suspension of YouTube advertising by several brands in the U.S. and U.K.
A spokesperson for Telstra confirmed the move, telling The Australian: "We have made the decision to pause our advertising on YouTube until we are satisfied there is an appropriate level of protection for our brand."
Vodafone Australia is a joint venture between Vodafone Group Plc and CK Hutchison Holdings Ltd.
