Adidas AG partnered with startup Storr Inc. to launch a retail pilot that will allow top customers of the sportswear retailer to sell its products and earn a commission, Women's Wear Daily reported Aug. 28, citing Chris Murphy, Adidas' senior director of digital activation.
San Francisco-based Storr operates an app that enables users to open a virtual store from their phone, add brands and products to their store, share them with friends and earn a commission from products sold.
Under the program, Adidas reportedly will provide customers with a variety of products to sell to their friends or followers on their Storr accounts and earn a 6% commission. Women's products from Adidas Originals and Outdoor collection will be offered as part of the initial phase, but other products may be included as the program progresses, the report said.
The program is set to be rolled out within the next few weeks, the fashion industry journal added.
Adidas reportedly has invited approximately 10,000 of its best customers from Creators Club to join the scheme. Creators Club is the German company's membership program that allows customers to earn points and reach different tiers within the club through purchases and posting products reviews, among other things.
Aside from earning a commission, customers will also have the option to donate proceeds of their sales to an Adidas-backed charity called Girls on the Run.
