Hilltop Holdings Q2 income, NIM slip YOY

Hilltop Holdings Inc. reported income attributable to the company of $33.1 million, or 35 cents per share, for the second quarter, compared with the year-ago quarter's $62.5 million, or 63 cents per share.

The S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate was 40 cents.

Net interest income decreased year over year to $104.8 million, compared to $116.0 million in the year-ago quarter, while noninterest income dropped to $279.4 million from $344.7 million over the same period.

Its net interest margin slid to 3.47% on a taxable equivalent basis, from the year-ago period's 3.99%.
