UK developer starts building 46-MW subsidy-free wind farm

Developer Muirhall Energy Ltd. has started construction of its 46-MW Crossdykes wind farm in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, which it intends to operate on a subsidy-free basis.

The wind farm is expected to produce its first power in September 2020, according to a Sept. 2 news release.

Muirhall and its partner WWS Renewables LLP reached financial close on the project in August. Close Brothers Leasing funded the scheme and Nordex SE is supplying the turbines.

The local community has the option to buy up to 10% of the project via a community share offer.
