Shareholders of German wind energy developer PNE Wind AG on June 6 voted to change the company's name to PNE AG as it expands its strategy to include other clean energy solutions such as photovoltaics, hydrogen for direct use and electricity storage technology and services.
Founded in 1995 and based in Cuxhaven, Germany, the company was formerly known as Plambeck Neue Energien AG and changed its name to PNE Wind AG in June 2009, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data.
PNE Wind AG develops, constructs, and sells offshore and onshore wind farms under the PNE Wind and WKN brand names in Germany and internationally; provides technical and commercial operational management services, including regular maintenance to wind farms and transformer stations under the energy consult brand name; and produces electricity from wind and timber biomass resources.
A corporate affiliate, PNE Wind USA, has more than 1,000 MW of wind energy capacity under development in the U.S. and Canada.
