Sony buys back ¥48.46B worth of shares

Sony Corp. said March 1 that it repurchased 9,374,800 common shares between Feb. 12 and Feb. 28 for a total consideration of about ¥48.46 billion.

The transaction forms part of the Japanese consumer electronics company's ¥100 billion share repurchase program that it announced in February.

The shares were repurchased through open market purchases on the Tokyo Stock Exchange based on a discretionary trading contract.

As of March 1, US$1 was equivalent to ¥111.90.
