Report: YouTube finalizing plans to end targeted ads to children

Google LLC subsidiary YouTube LLC is finalizing plans to end targeted advertisements on videos that children are likely to watch, Bloomberg News reported Aug. 20.

A YouTube spokeswoman declined to comment on the report.

The move comes amid reports that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission is probing whether YouTube's ad practices violated the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, which places restrictions on the tracking and targeting of users under the age of 13, after receiving complaints from consumer groups and privacy advocates. The company is considering moving all of its children's content onto a separate stand-alone application to better protect young viewers, The Wall Street Journal reported in June
