Bebe Stores fiscal Q3 loss narrows YOY

Bebe Stores Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended April 4 came to a loss of 85 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of a loss of $1.30 per share.

The per-share loss narrowed 46.0% year over year from $1.57.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of $6.8 million, compared with a loss of $12.5 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin increased to negative 7.3% from negative 14.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose on an annual basis to $92.7 million from $89.0 million, and total operating expenses decreased 5.0% from the prior-year period to $103.5 million from $109.0 million.

Reported net income totaled a loss of $11.1 million, or a loss of $1.40 per share, compared to a loss of $23.0 million, or a loss of $2.90 per share, in the year-earlier period.
