Rainbow Rare Earths outlines maiden resource at Gakara rare earths project

Rainbow Rare Earths Ltd. outlined a maiden resource at its Gakara rare earths project in Burundi of over 1.2 million tonnes of ore.

The resource is hosted mainly at the Kiyenzi deposit at a grade of 2.2% total rare earth oxides containing 26,570 tonnes of TREO at a 1% cutoff grade.

Total contained TREO at the Gakara project stands at 33,429 tonnes, according to a Dec. 17 release.

The company said the estimate is based on just four of 28 mineralized targets across its existing mining license.

Rainbow plans to bring the Gomvyi Centre and Kiyenzi deposits at Gakara into production in 2019.
