Seidman, related groups increase stake in Malvern Bancorp

Activist investor Lawrence Seidman, along with investment affiliates, increased their stakes in Malvern Bancorp Inc., according to a recent ownership filing.

Seidman disclosed beneficial ownership of 616,252 common shares, or 7.93%, of the Paoli, Pa.-based bank, according to a Schedule 13D filed Dec. 26. That is an increase from the previously reported 6.91%.

The aggregate purchase price of the shares was about $9.8 million, including brokerage commissions.
