Yakult Honsha fiscal Q2 profit climbs 6.8% YOY

Yakult Honsha Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 amounted to ¥49.57 per share, a gain of 6.8% from ¥46.40 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥8.20 billion, a gain of 6.8% from ¥7.67 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 7.9% from 7.8% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 5.0% on an annual basis to ¥103.25 billion from ¥98.33 billion, and total operating expenses increased year over year to ¥90.42 billion from ¥86.83 billion.

Reported net income grew from the prior-year period to ¥9.84 billion, or ¥59.51 per share, from ¥9.48 billion, or ¥57.34 per share.

As of Nov. 14, US$1 was equivalent to ¥113.32.
