French annual harmonized inflation eases in February

French annual harmonized inflation stood at 1.3% in February, down from 1.5% in January but in line with the initial estimate, final data from the National Institute of Statistics and Economics showed.

Food prices rose year on year by 0.8% down from 1.2% the previous month. Prices for manufactured goods posted a slight increase of 0.1%. Meanwhile, prices for services eased to 1.1% after 1.3% growth in January.

Annual core inflation declined to 0.8% in February, compared to 0.9% in January.

In monthly terms, harmonized inflation posted zero growth in February after a 0.1% decline in the previous month. Prices for manufactured products fell by 0.3%, compared to a 2.2% drop in January. The prices for food and services also edged down. Energy prices were unchanged as an increase in gas and electricity prices tempered the fall in energy prices.

Core inflation stood at 0.4% in February on a monthly basis from 0.6% in January.
