Orvana Minerals Corp.'s OroValle Minerals SL unit plans to reopen the Carlés gold mine in Spain, Mining.com reported May 13, citing Spanish newspaper La Nueva España.
The mine was placed on care and maintenance in 2017, but following certain exploration works, it was determined that restarting it would be beneficial for the company, OroValle Managing Director Nuria Menéndez said.
OroValle is conducting further exploration at the nearby El Valle-Boinás gold-copper-silver mine to extend the mine life.
Orvana produced 24,788 ounces of gold and 2.6 million pounds of copper in the second quarter of its fiscal 2018.
