Waseda Academy Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 amounted to a loss of ¥47.05 per share, compared with a loss of ¥45.98 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of ¥387.5 million, compared with a loss of ¥375.6 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin declined to negative 10.9% from negative 10.7% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue climbed year over year to ¥3.56 billion from ¥3.50 billion, and total operating expenses increased on an annual basis to ¥4.18 billion from ¥4.09 billion.
Reported net income came to a loss of ¥432.0 million, or a loss of ¥52.45 per share, compared to a loss of ¥401.0 million, or a loss of ¥49.08 per share, in the year-earlier period.
As of Aug. 4, US$1 was equivalent to ¥102.45.
