Unitil's Schoenberger to retire as board chair/president/CEO; successor named

Unitil Corp. on March 1 announced that Robert Schoenberger will retire as chairman of the board, president and CEO, effective April 25.

Schoenberger will be succeeded by Thomas Meissner Jr., Unitil's senior vice president and COO. Meissner is expected to be elected to the board for a term of three years, according to a company release. He has held his current position since 2005 and has been with the company for 24 years.

Schoenberger declined to be re-elected to the board of directors. He has served the company for 20 years and has been in the industry for 38 years. He has been Unitil's chairman of the board and CEO since October 1997.
