Genius Brands International Q4 loss widens 19.9% YOY

Genius Brands International Inc. said its normalized net income for the fourth quarter amounted to a loss of 19 cents per share, compared with a loss of 25 cents per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of $663,240, compared with a loss of $553,020 in the prior-year period.

Total revenue decreased 7.7% on an annual basis to $196,980 from $213,510, and total operating expenses rose 17.3% from the prior-year period to $1.3 million from $1.1 million.

Reported net income totaled a loss of $1.5 million, or a loss of 41 cents per share, compared to a loss of $884,840, or a loss of 40 cents per share, in the prior-year period.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled a loss of 87 cents per share, compared with a loss of $1.11 per share in the prior year.

Normalized net income was a loss of $2.2 million, compared with a loss of $2.3 million in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue declined year over year to $907,980 from $925,790, and total operating expenses declined on an annual basis to $4.4 million from $4.6 million.

The company said reported net income came to a loss of $3.9 million, or a loss of $1.55 per share, in the full year, compared with a loss of $3.7 million, or a loss of $1.79 per share, the prior year.
