Eni grants TechnipFMC contract worth up to $1B for Indonesian deepwater work

TechnipFMC PLC announced March 25 that Italy-based Eni SpA awarded it a contract of between US$500 million and US$1 billion to tie deepwater wells back to a floating production unit at Eni's Merakes natural gas field offshore Indonesia.

The U.K.-based oilfield services company said the project's scope includes engineering, procurement, installation and pre-commissioning work covering five wells at a depth of about 1,500 meters and their tie back to the existing Jangkrik floating production unit 50 kilometers away.

Eni announced in December 2018 that it had received approval from Indonesian regulators to begin work on the deepwater project and that tests showed the field's first deepwater well could deliver 70 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas and 1,000 barrels per day of associated condensate.
