ERAMET S.A. said Oct. 23 that its Weda Bay nickel project in Indonesia will start operating ahead of schedule as soon as the first half of 2020.
Eramet previously said in September that the project was ahead of schedule, but it did not provide a timeline. The company said that production would start in the second half of 2020, and reach full capacity in 2021, according to Reuters.
The company is targeting to produce 30,000 tonnes per annum of nickel content at Weda Bay, of which 13,000 tonnes is off-take.
Eramet booked third-quarter sales of €895 million, down 6% year over year, while posting new quarterly production records for manganese ore of 1.34 million tonnes, up 11%, and nickel ore of 1.33 million tonnes, up 10%, from the same quarter last year.
