Wintrust agrees to settle bad-loan dispute with ResCap affiliate's trust

Wintrust Mortgage negotiated a settlement on a claim by RFC Liquidating Trust, according to Wintrust Financial Corp.'s Feb. 28 regulatory filing.

Wintrust Mortgage received a demand from RFC Liquidating Trust on Aug. 28, 2015, over losses from loans that were sold to Residential Funding Co. LLC, an affiliate of Residential Capital LLC, which filed for bankruptcy in 2012.

The negotiation of the settlement was finalized Oct. 30, 2017, and was immaterial to Wintrust Financial, the filing said.
