Regnis (Lanka) Q2 profit climbs YOY

Regnis (Lanka) PLC said its second-quarter normalized net income came to 5.85 Sri Lankan rupees per share, a gain from 1.63 rupees per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 65.9 million rupees, a gain from 18.3 million rupees in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 7.2% from 2.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 26.9% on an annual basis to 919.7 million rupees from 724.9 million rupees, and total operating expenses climbed 17.6% from the prior-year period to 814.6 million rupees from 692.7 million rupees.

Reported net income rose year over year to 81.3 million rupees, or 7.22 rupees per share, from 24.1 million rupees, or 2.14 rupees per share.

As of Aug. 7, US$1 was equivalent to 133.75 Sri Lankan rupees.
