Hydro One withdraws debt securities registration

Hydro One Ltd. and Hydro One Holdings Ltd. on Sept. 5 withdrew a registration statement filed nearly three months earlier related to the potential sale of $3 billion of debt securities.

The company said it decided not to proceed with any registered offering, and no securities under that registration statement had been issued.

Hydro One had intended to use proceeds from any sale of securities to fund its pending acquisition of Avista Corp.

Hydro One executives on Aug. 14 assured investors and analysts that the company remains "fully committed" to closing the $5.3 billion Avista acquisition, despite Hydro One's chief executive and board of directors stepping down.
