Amazon India expands fulfillment network for large appliances, furniture Inc. said March 19 that it has invested in six more specialized fulfillment centers in India and another 25 delivery stations dedicated to orders of large appliances and furniture.

With the six additional facilities located in Coimbatore, Pune, Lucknow, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bhopal, Amazon India now has 15 fulfillment centers in its specialized network spanning 1.3 million square feet with a storage capacity of 5 million cubic feet. Together with its new total of 60 delivery stations, the e-commerce player now serves customers in these product categories across more than 400 cities in the country.

The larger fulfillment network will allow customers in 30 cities to receive next-day delivery of large appliances and furniture. Appliance installation services are also offered across 200 cities with purchases of brands including LG Electronics Inc., BPL, Whirlpool Corp., Bosch and Haier Electronics Group Co. Ltd. In addition, scheduled delivery and installation services for furniture orders are offered across 45 cities.

Amazon India said the service expansion comes as local consumer demand for large appliances increases ahead of the summer season, particularly for refrigerators, air conditioners, air coolers and washing machines.

The Indian version of the online shopping site features 5,000 products spanning multiple brands in the large appliances category along with more than 1 million home furnishing items for all room types.

Amazon India's operations include a total of 62 fulfillment centers located in 13 states and more than 200 self-owned delivery stations around the country.
