Bahamas central bank names new bank inspector

The Central Bank of the Bahamas said it appointed Charles Littrell to replace Abhilash Bhachech as its new inspector of banks and trust companies, effective June 26.

Littrell, who previously served as the executive general manager of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, will now head the bank supervision department at the Bahamas central bank and continue its financial sector supervisory capacity building program.

Littrell also has experience serving as a member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision as well as participating in the work of the Financial Stability Board.

Additionally, the Bahamas central bank is creating a deputy inspector position that will be filled by a candidate from within the country who will succeed Littrell at the end of his tenure.
