Almacenes í‰xito profit beats consensusin Q4

Almacenes Éxito SA said its fourth-quarter normalized net income amounted to 672.28 Colombian pesos per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 293.25 pesos per share.

EPS climbed 92.7% year over year from 348.87 pesos.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 300.91 billion pesos, a gain of 92.7% from 156.16 billion pesos in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 4.2% from 5.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew on an annual basis to 19.932 trillion pesos from 3.142 trillion pesos, and total operating expenses rose year over year to 19.132 trillion pesos from 2.893 trillion pesos.

Reported net income grew year over year to 195.57 billion pesos, or 436.93 pesos per share, from 193.05 billion pesos, or 431.30 pesos per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled 1,466.70 pesos per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of 1,147.52 pesos.

EPS rose 51.5% from 968.36 pesos in the prior year.

Normalized net income was 656.50 billion pesos, a rise of 51.5% from 433.44 billion pesos in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue increased from the prior-year period to 33.402 trillion pesos from 10.485 trillion pesos, and total operating expenses grew 224.3% on an annual basis to 31.968 trillion pesos from 9.858 trillion pesos.

The company said reported net income increased 14.8% on an annual basis to 573.50 billion pesos, or 1,281.25 pesos per share, in the full year, from 499.43 billion pesos, or 1,115.78 pesos per share.

As of March 1, US$1 was equivalent to 3,289 Colombian pesos.
