Sony repurchases shares worth ¥69.85B in August

Sony Corp. said Sept. 3 that it bought back ¥69.85 billion worth of common stock from Aug. 1-31 under its ongoing share repurchase program.

The Japanese consumer electronics and entertainment giant bought back 11,932,100 shares during the month.

In July, Sony repurchased ¥4.25 billion of shares.

The company has so far bought back 17,396,500 shares for a total purchase price of ¥99.43 billion under its plan to repurchase ¥200 billion of its common stock from May 17, 2019, to March 31, 2020.

The planned buyback of up to 60,000,000 shares represents 4.8% of Sony's total issued and outstanding shares.

As of Sept. 3, US$1 was equivalent to ¥105.86.
