Home Depot buys The Company Store to expand into online home décor business

Home improvement retailer Home Depot Inc. said Dec. 21 that it has acquired online home décor retailer The Company Store from Hanover Direct Inc.

The deal closed Dec. 19 for an undisclosed sum, Home Depot said. The Company Store's five brick-and-mortar sites were not included in the deal, Home Depot added.

Home Depot will now add The Company Store's development and sourcing capabilities in textiles, which includes bedding, bath and related categories, to its portfolio.
