Goldman Sachs Group Inc. made a number of changes in the leadership of its investment banking division and in Goldman Sachs Asset Management LP, according to internal memos obtained by S&P Global Market Intelligence.
The changes come as the investment banking giant shuffled the executive roster of its global technology, media and telecom group.
Goldman named Alison Mass, global head of financial and strategic investors group in the investment banking division, as chairman of the division. It also named Sheila Patel to take the same role in Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Patel previously was CEO of International Goldman Sachs Asset Management and global co-head of the asset management division's client business.
The company named Luke Sarsfield as co-head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management's client business. Sarsfield was most recently global head of the financial institutions group within the investment banking unit. Goldman named Pete Lyon as global head of the financial institutions group and the financial and strategic investors group. Lyon was previously co-head of the global TMT group.
In its financial institutions group division, Goldman appointed John Mahoney as global head of mergers and acquisitions and Pat Fels as head of FIG in the Americas. Mahoney will continue in his role as global co-chairman of FIG and Fels will still be co-head of insurance sector in the Americas.
