Vacation rental platform Rakuten Lifull Stay, a business under Japanese e-commerce retailer Rakuten Inc., announced Jan. 17 that it will start accepting registrations of domestic properties on its rental information website tentatively called Vacation Stay, starting March 15.
The information website was first launched Sept. 4, 2017.
Rakuten Lifull Stay said all domestic vacation rental properties listed on the website will be up for booking beginning September through the retailer's booking service Rakuten Travel.
The move is the latest development in Rakuten's expansion into the vacation rental market.
Rakuten Lifull Stay Inc. was unveiled June 22, 2017. Since its launch, it has partnered with Expedia Inc.'s vacation rental site operator HomeAway Inc., Taiwanese rental site operator AsiaYo Co. Ltd. and Chinese home-sharing platform Tujia.
It also launched its operation support service Rakuten Stay on Nov. 29, 2017.
The vacation rental company proceeded to team up with Dutch reservation website Booking.com and also announced that property developer Leopalace21 Corp. has availed of its Rakuten Lifull Stay service. More recently, Rakuten Lifull Stay entered into an agreement with consulting firm HyAS&Co. Inc. to build a joint brand of vacation homes.
