John Keells PLC said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 amounted to 1.15 Sri Lankan rupees per share, a gain of 96.0% from 59 cents per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 69.5 million rupees, an increase of 96.8% from 35.3 million rupees in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 23.8% from 17.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 45.2% on an annual basis to 291.7 million rupees from 200.9 million rupees, and total operating expenses grew 19.2% on an annual basis to 152.1 million rupees from 127.7 million rupees.
Reported net income increased on an annual basis to 80.0 million rupees, or 1.32 rupees per share, from 29.8 million rupees, or 49 cents per share.
As of Oct. 24, US$1 was equivalent to 130.85 Sri Lankan rupees.
