Buyout firm KKR & Co. expressed interest in acquiring the StubHub Inc. business of e-commerce giant eBay Inc., Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
StubHub reportedly also attracted interest from fellow ticket marketplace Vivid Seats, a portfolio company of GTCR LLC and Vista Equity Partners LLC. Private equity firm Silver Lake Partners is also considering a bid for the eBay business, which could be worth about $3 billion in a sale, the people told the news outlet.
EBay disclosed earlier in March that it was reviewing options for its StubHub and classifieds businesses after talks with shareholder activists Elliott Management Corp. and Starboard Value LP.
The sale process for StubHub started in recent weeks, while no decision has been made regarding an auction for eBay's classifieds business, Bloomberg noted, citing the people.
Shares of eBay were down 1.37% to $39.74 on Sept. 3.
Representatives for eBay, KKR and Vivid Seats did not comment, while a Silver Lake representative did not respond to requests for comment, according to Bloomberg.
