Fanuc fiscal Q4 profit climbs 70.1% YOY

Fanuc Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31 came to ¥284.72 per share, a gain of 70.1% from ¥167.40 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥55.71 billion, a gain of 70.1% from ¥32.76 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 27.4% from 26.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 64.3% year over year to ¥203.35 billion from ¥123.77 billion, and total operating expenses climbed 58.8% year over year to ¥117.42 billion from ¥73.93 billion.

Reported net income grew 71.8% on an annual basis to ¥58.15 billion, or ¥297.19 per share, from ¥33.85 billion, or ¥172.99 per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥992.96 per share, compared to EPS of ¥554.89 in the prior year.

Normalized net income was ¥194.28 billion, an increase from ¥108.59 billion in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue rose on an annual basis to ¥729.76 billion from ¥450.98 billion, and total operating expenses grew on an annual basis to ¥431.92 billion from ¥286.84 billion.

The company said reported net income increased on an annual basis to ¥207.60 billion, or ¥1,061.01 per share, in the full year, from ¥110.93 billion, or ¥566.86 per share.

As of June 29, US$1 was equivalent to ¥122.67.
