The joint fund of Fortum Oyj and Rusnano Capital LLC began operating a 50-MW wind project in Ulyanovsk, Russia, according to a Jan. 14 news release.

During the Russian wind auction in 2017 and 2018, the joint fund was awarded 1,823 MW of projects, and the recently energized 50-MW plant in Ulyanovsk is the first such project to enter operations.

The wind parks built to meet the capacity won in 2017 and 2018 will receive a guaranteed price of 7,000 Russian rubles to 8,000 rubles per MWh for 15 years, according to a previous company news release.

Rusnano is a Russian state-owned corporation.
