DISH unit, Lilly Broadcasting renew retrans deal

DISH Network Corp.'s DISH Network LLC renewed its retransmission consent deal with Lilly Broadcasting LLC, DISH said Nov. 30.

The agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, covers Lilly-owned channels in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and three other markets in Hawaii, Pennsylvania and New York.

On Sept. 30, Lilly disconnected three stations in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands from DISH subscribers, including One Caribbean Television in Puerto Rico, CBS (US) affiliate WSEEP-TV serving Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, ABC (US) affiliate WENY-VI in the Virgin Islands. The company's stations in Erie, Pa.; Elimira, N.Y.,;and Honolulu also went dark to DISH subscribers.

Access to the channels was restored after Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai expressed concern over the blackout, which was also due to pricing differences between Lilly and DISH.
