NBCUniversal shuffles executives; Fusion Connect CEO, COO resign

S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a rundown of executive changes in the U.S. technology, media and telecommunications industries.

* Doretha Lea will become executive vice president of global public policy and government relations at ViacomCBS, effective upon completion of the Viacom Inc./CBS Corp. merger. In this role, Lea will be in charge of all government affairs and public policy matters for ViacomCBS. She has been the company's executive vice president of global government affairs since 2013.

With Lea's appointment, CBS' executive vice president of global government affairs, John Orlando, will leave the company once the Viacom/CBS combination closes, Variety reported. Orlando has been CBS' top lobbyist since 2013 and served as lead lobbyist for the National Association of Broadcasters.

* Bill Archer will join Charter Communications Inc. as executive vice president and president of Spectrum Enterprise later this month. Archer replaces Phil Meeks, who will retire in January 2020. In this role, Archer will oversee product, marketing, sales, operations and strategy for Spectrum Enterprise. He most recently was managing director of business at eir Group.

* Comcast Corp.'s NBCUniversal Media LLC is shuffling executives to consolidate oversight of its broadcast and cable production operations, Variety reported Oct. 7. Bonnie Hammer will no longer head the launch of NBCU's upcoming streaming service Peacock, according to the report. Instead, longtime Comcast executive Matt Strauss will become the new head of the streaming service. Strauss most recently was executive vice president of Xfinity services for Comcast Cable. Hammer will now oversee all of the broadcast and cable studio operations of the company.

Paul Telegdy will become the solo chairman of NBC Entertainment, while George Cheeks will shift to vice chair and will continue to oversee late-night programming for NBC. Universal Television and Universal Cable Productions will continue to be run by their current presidents, Pearlena Igbokwe and Dawn Olmstead, respectively.

* Cogeco Communications Inc. unit Atlantic Broadband appointed Frank van der Post president of the company, effective Nov. 4. Prior to joining Atlantic Broadband, he was chief commercial officer at Dutch multiservice telecommunications operator KPN NV.

* Matthew Rosen resigned as CEO of Fusion Connect Inc., effective Oct. 7. Rosen will continue as chairman of the board until the company and its units emerge from protection under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code. Russell Markman, president and COO of Fusion, also resigned from his position, effective Oct. 7. The company appointed Kevin Brand president, COO and interim CEO of the company.
