Turner selects AWS as preferred cloud provider

Time Warner Inc.'s Turner Broadcasting System Inc. selected Amazon.com Inc.'s Amazon Web Services Inc. as its preferred cloud provider.

Under the agreement, Turner is putting "thousands" of virtual machines on AWS to create cloud-native apps for networks and partners, including TBS (US), TNT (US), Cartoon Network, CNN (US), NCAA, and NBA, the company said Nov. 28.

Further, Turner will use AWS for services such as compute, storage, networking, databases, developer tools, analytics, and machine learning.
