Target rolls out loyalty program across US

Target Corp. said Sep. 9 that it will expand its Target Circle loyalty program across the U.S. on Oct. 6.

Under the program, customers receive a 1% rebate on every Target purchase, personalized deals and perks and early access to special sales throughout the year.

The nationwide rollout follows the pilot of the loyalty scheme, previously known as Target Red, in Dallas-Fort Worth; Charlotte, N.C.; Kansas City, Kan.-Mo.; Denver; Indianapolis; and Phoenix for more than 18 months.

New users can sign up for the program by creating an account in the company's Target.com e-commerce portal, applying for Target's RedCard credit or debit card or providing their phone number in any Target store.

The Minneapolis-based retailer also said it will integrate its Cartwheel savings app into the loyalty program and rename the deals as "Target Circle offers." All guests who have Target.com, Cartwheel or Target RedCard account will be enrolled in Target Circle, the company added.

On May 22, Target CEO Brian Cornell said it planned to expand Target Circle.
