US gaming shorts fall during September 2nd half

U.S. gaming operators saw average short interest decline 13 basis points between Sept. 15 and Sept. 29, reaching 7.29% of outstanding shares.

Penn National Gaming Inc. posted the biggest decline in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered gaming operators between Sept. 15 and Sept. 29. The company saw short interest drop 275 basis points to 11.88% of shares outstanding at the end of the period.

Caesars Entertainment Corp. had the largest increase in short interest relative to shares outstanding. The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding increased 209 basis points to 26.67% as of Sept. 29.

Caesars Entertainment was also the most shorted gaming operator as of the end of the period.
