Collectors Universe profit misses consensus by 20.3% in fiscal Q3

Collectors Universe Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended March 31 was 27 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 33 cents per share.

EPS declined 5.2% year over year from 28 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $2.3 million, a decrease from $2.3 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 14.2% from 14.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue declined year over year to $16.0 million from $16.3 million, and total operating expenses fell from the prior-year period to $12.3 million from $12.6 million.

Reported net income totaled $2.2 million, or 26 cents per share, compared to $2.2 million, or 26 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
