Resolute Mining Ltd. suspended the roaster, a key component in its sulfide processing circuit at the Syama gold mine in Mali, due to a crack in its main external shell.
This comes shortly after the company completed repair and maintenance work at the sulfide crusher and roaster refractory lining. The company said Oct. 9 that the crack is unrelated to the previous repair work.
Resolute is assessing the extent of the issue while establishing a repair plan and expects additional repair work to impact production for the fourth quarter.
The company achieved commercial production at Syama in June, and complete commissioning of the fully automated operation is targeted in the third quarter.
