Hindalco Industries Ltd. said May 16 that after-tax net profit in the fourth quarter of its fiscal 2018 rose 12.8% yearly to 6.16 billion Indian rupees on a stand-alone basis, with revenue down 1.2% to 116.81 billion rupees.
In the year-ago period, the company booked a net profit of 5.46 billion rupees, with revenue of 118.17 billion rupees.
Revenue from its aluminum unit inched 0.6% lower yearly to 55.13 billion rupees, while EBITDA rose 11% yearly to 12.65 billion rupees in the fourth quarter. Copper division revenue for the quarter, on the other hand, slipped 0.5% year over year to 61.70 billion rupees, while EBITDA decreased 33.8% to 3.29 billion rupees.
For full-year 2018, the company's profit also increased 36.3% to 19.34 billion rupees, with revenue also up 9.4% to 434.51 billion rupees.
The company reported its highest ever aluminum and copper production in its fiscal 2018 ended March 31 at 1.3 million tonnes and 410,000 tonnes, respectively.
Aluminum revenue in the full year of fiscal 2018 increased to 210.89 billion rupees, from 199.86 billion rupees a year ago, as a result of higher sales, better realizations and supportive macros. Better volumes with stable plant operations and improved efficiencies, but offset by higher input costs, resulted in the 17.0% increase in full-year EBITDA to 47.90 billion rupees.
Its copper unit booked a 15.3% increase in revenue to 223.71 billion rupees, as overall volumes and realisations in value added products were higher. EBITDA for the segment realized a 5.7% gain to 15.39 billion rupees, as a result of higher volumes and better by-products realisation.
