IQiyi opens on-demand theater in China

Baidu (China) Co. Ltd.-backed online video platform iQiyi Inc. said May 20 that it opened its first on-demand movie theater in China.

Yuke, in Zhongshan, Guangdong, combines the features of on-demand services, such as the ability to choose content and viewing time, with the audiovisual environment of traditional theaters.

IQiyi plans to open more Yuke movie theaters in first- and second-tier cities "to increase the strength and overall scale of China's film industry," Senior Vice President Yang Xianghua said.
