Rakuten Inc. said April 25 that it will establish the Rakuten Institute of Technology Gene Laboratory on May 1, through a partnership with Japanese genetic testing company Genesis Healthcare Co.
The Japanese e-commerce company, which invested in Genesis Healthcare in August 2017, will collaborate with the genetic health company on marketing-related research based on genetic data analysis.
Rakuten added that through the collaboration, it aims to help resolve social issues such as reducing medical costs and raising health awareness in Japan.
The company said the laboratory will use data provided by Genesis Healthcare to reassess marketing techniques and carry out research into developing solutions for customers.
