Consol Energy books lower Q2 adjusted net income, coal revenue

Consol Energy Inc. on Aug. 6 reported adjusted net income of $48.8 million, or $1.56 per share, in the 2019 second quarter, compared with $52.7 million, or $1.58 per share, in the prior-year period. The S&P Global Market Intelligence consensus normalized earnings estimate for the second quarter was $1.14 per share, based on the polling of three analysts.

Adjusted EBITDA fell year over year to $112.9 million from $136.3 million.

Total coal revenue was $350.6 million, compared with $370.7 million in the second quarter a year earlier.

Consol reported sales of 7.4 million tons of coal in the second quarter, compared with 7.8 million tons a year earlier. The average revenue was $47.53 per ton, compared with $47.34 a year earlier.

The company targets adjusted EBITDA between $390 million to $420 million and coal sales volumes of 26.8 million tons to 27.8 million tons for 2019.
