NTT Data fiscal Q1 profit falls YOY

NTT DATA Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 was ¥2.01 per share, a decrease of 30.1% from ¥2.87 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥2.81 billion, a decrease of 30.1% from ¥4.02 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 0.8% from 1.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 14.2% on an annual basis to ¥335.92 billion from ¥294.17 billion, and total operating expenses grew 14.3% from the prior-year period to ¥330.40 billion from ¥289.05 billion.

Reported net income declined 82.6% from the prior-year period to ¥391.0 million, or 28 sen per share, from ¥2.25 billion, or ¥1.60 per share.

As of Aug. 11, US$1 was equivalent to ¥102.12.
