Shiseido Co. Ltd. said Dec. 17 that it will open a business innovation and investment representative office in Shanghai, effective Jan. 1, 2019.
The Japanese cosmetics maker will use the new office to forge strategic alliances with Chinese startups and companies in a bid to promote innovation across its existing businesses.
It also expects the new office to help develop new businesses that will fare well in the Chinese market.
The facility will be headed by Carol Zhou, who previously was marketing vice president for a joint venture between Marriott International Inc. and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., according to the release.
Shiseido said the new China office is part of its Vision 2020 plan, which is founded on growth acceleration and international market share expansion.
