Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. followed through with its round of job cuts March 31, when "many" employees saw their jobs eliminated, according to a report from the Milwaukee Business Journal.
The company did not disclose the number of jobs cut, but in September 2016, the company was reported to be cutting hundreds of jobs in 2017 in a push to lower expenses. Northwestern Mutual spokeswoman Betsy Hoylman told the Milwaukee Business Journal that the company has said "all along there would be hundreds of jobs eliminated in 2017."
The company reportedly made cuts to several departments at two Milwaukee-area campuses. There are about 5,900 Northwestern Mutual employees in the Milwaukee area, the report said.
