Stanley Black & Decker Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Oct. 3 came to $1.34 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.46 per share.
EPS climbed 13.3% year over year from $1.19.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $202.6 million, an increase of 6.4% from $190.4 million in the third quarter ended Sept. 27, 2014.
The normalized profit margin rose to 7.2% from 6.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue fell on an annual basis to $2.83 billion from $2.88 billion, and total operating expenses declined from the prior-year period to $2.43 billion from $2.50 billion.
Reported net income declined year over year to $233.7 million, or $1.55 per share, from $245.7 million, or $1.53 per share.
