RTL Group has unveiled plans to launch video-on-demand services in Belgium, Croatia and Hungary over the coming months.
The new VOD services will rely on Groupe M6's 6play platform, RTL said in a news release announcing its 2017 full-year results.
Company CEO Bert Habets said the upcoming launches are in line with RTL's goal of investing more in on-demand services in countries where the company has "strong families of channels."
RTL also said a key priority is to expand the reach of its on-demand services, combined with investments in local and exclusive content. It further vowed to develop its multiplatform networks and continue investing in advertising technologies.
RTL unit RTL Croatia previously eyed a January debut for its revamped VOD service named RTL Play.
The Luxembourg-based media group's 2017 revenue reached about €6.37 billion, up 2.2% from about €6.24 billion in 2016. Revenue from cable, satellite and IPTV platforms was €319 million, up 13.5% from €281 million in 2016. Revenue generated by the company's digital businesses also increased 23.3% to €826 million from the previous year's €670 million.
