Hubject secures investment from Enel X to expand electric vehicle charging

Hubject GmbH secured a strategic investment from Enel X Srl to help develop and expand electric vehicle charging networks and to establish "a global and open ecosystem for digital mobility services," according to a Sept. 25 news release.

Hubject is a joint venture of the BMW Group, Bosch, Daimler AG, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, Enel X, innogy SE, Siemens AG and Volkswagen AG. With more than 600 business partners and over 200,000 charging points, Hubject provides standardized access to charging infrastructure regardless of network.

"Together we are looking forward to increasing our scope and enhancing the features of our open [business-to-business] marketplace for the global energy and mobility market of the future," Hubject CEO Christian Hahn said.

Enel X, a subsidiary of Italy's Enel SpA, has approximately 60,000 charging points globally in 2019, according to the news release.
