Uralkali granted tax privileges in investment deal with Russian government

PJSC Uralkali signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of the Perm region and the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, which grants the fertilizer producer tax privileges at its Ust-Yayva project.

The memorandum of understanding is part of an initiative to stimulate investment in the local economy in the Perm region, Uralkali said in a press release dated June 5. It includes a special investment contract, under which Uralkali will implement a large-scale project to construct new industrial facilities at Ust-Yayva.

The Ust-Yayva mine is part of Uralkali's Berezniki asset. When it is brought online, it will have a capacity of 11 million tonnes of sylvinite ore per year, amounting to an annual output of 2.8 million tonnes of potassium chloride.

Uralkali is one of Russia's largest potash producers, with an output of 10.8 million tonnes in 2016.
